ABOUT: TASTES ORANGEY

My name is Clare Elsaesser and I live and work in the beautiful, hillside town of Jenner, California where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean. My work is motivated by a search for calm, daydreams, and the immense nature outside my window.

These aren’t paintings?!

Look again. These aren’t photographs, oh no. They’re photo-realistic paintings crafted by the deft hand of Dan Witz. Born in Chicago and exhibiting for over two decades, Witz has honed his hyper-detailed style down to something that’s got to be part art, part science. Plus, I bet he’s a bit of a legend at gigs, the one who suspends himself trapeze-style above a writhing crowd, palette and paintbrush in hand. Actually I have no idea how he makes them, but technicalities are irrelevant in the face of such awesomeness.

Café au Art

New York City-based artist and barista at The Breslin, Mike Breach, has a gift for being able to do just about anything with a cup of espresso and milk.

British photographer Jasper James creates a compelling juxtaposition in his series City Silhouettes. His photographs feature the city of Beijing, where he is currently based, paired with silhouettes of its citizens. He captures his subjects as a refection, as they appear to be reflecting on the world below them.

British Designer Doran Draws Dreams of Steampunk Era

Studiocanoe isn’t just the love child of one potentially lonely, reclusive film projectionist in Falmouth, Cornwall. It is a creative project that encompasses a graphic arts agency, a short film collection and Doran’s portfolio as an illustrator.

Touristique” by Glenn Michael
New York, London, Paris, Toronto, Amsterdam.

In Pictures of Junk and Pictures of Garbage, Muiz explores the urbanely tragic world of refuse. He creates painting like visuals by rearranging discarded items. He stops at nothing: food, toys, plastic, wire, old clothes, tires—anything can form an element of a work of art, Muniz seems to state.
